According to KSTP TV in Minneapolis Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor expects Wiggins to sign a five-year, $148 million max extension by the weekend.
In fact, Taylor expects the deal to be done before Minnesota’s first practice Saturday.
Wiggins has been expected to sign his contract extension throughout the summer, but he fired his agent in late August when he was about to sign the deal, and under the current collective bargaining agreement the Timberwolves forward had to wait two weeks before signing an extension.
It turned out to take more like a month, but either way, the 22-year-old Canadian is about to be in Minnesota for the foreseeable future.
Wiggins is coming off of a career year in which he averaged 23.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
