Sports Analyst and Provocateur Clay Travis Launches Senate Campaign T-Shirt

Clay Travis, noted advocate of “boobs” and the First Amendment, debuted a t-shirt on Friday for his hypothetical and, as-of-yet, unofficial Senate campaign.

Travis first announced that he had been “toying with” the idea of running for U.S. Senate on Tuesday’s broadcast of his sports radio show. Travis suggested he might run if incumbent Sen. Bob Corker (R., Tenn.) retires, as he has considered doing.

Then, on Friday, Travis tweeted out a photo of a t-shirt for his would-be campaign.

he t-shirt features the roundel from the state flag of Tennessee, as well as the words “Clay Travis/US Senate.” The shirts come in just one color — “vintage red” — and costs $24.99.

Travis courted controversy last week with an appearance on CNN, where he had been invited to discuss ESPN anchor Jemele Hill’s accusation that President Donald Trump is a “white supremacist.”

During his appearance, Travis told CNN host Brooke Baldwin that, “I believe only in two things completely: the First Amendment and boobs.”

The comment provoked outrage from many corners. Nonetheless, Travis embraced the declaration, and is also selling a “1st Amendment & Boobs” shirt that is available in both a men’s and women’s version.

In spite of offending the Brooke Baldwin constituency, Travis expects he could win the Senate seat, noting on Tuesday that he would have “100 percent name recognition” at a University of Tennessee tailgate.
